    • Pre-registration and entry fee must be postmarked by Thursday, July 17, 2025 and should be sent to the Vanderburgh County Fair - P.O. Box, 58, Inglefield, IN 47618-0058

  • Rules & Regulations

    Registration/Set up: 11:30am Start Freezing Ice Cream 12 noon

    Judging will take place as ice cream has finished freezing. One-hour maximum given for freezing ice cream, until 1:00pm. Awards to follow after everyone has been judged


    1. Registration is for - Vanilla entries, and Flavored entries
    2. Contestants may participate in more than one category. May compete as individual or team.
    3. Electric or hand crank machines permitted.
    4. Entry fee is $5.00 per entry. Pre-Registration and entry fee must be postmarked by Thursday, July 17, 2025 and should be sent to the Vanderburgh County Fair - P.O. Box, 58, Inglefield, IN 47618-0058.
    5. Previous winning recipes will be ineligible.
    6. Contestants are to provide their own rock salt. The Vanderburgh County Fair will furnish ICE.
    7. The Vanderburgh County Fair will provide electricity for electric machines.
    8. Contestants must come prepared to start freezing product and be ready for judging within one hour.
    9. Each entry should bring one recipe card for judges with all ingredients used and directions to prepare. We encourage you to bring a poster with recipe for public to see.

    • Judging will be based on flavor, body & texture, natural ingredients and technique.

    • All recipes must contain pasteurized dairy products and cooked eggs ONLY.

    • The categories will be judged: Vanilla, Flavor, and “People’s Choice” Award. 

    1. Ice will be furnished by the Vanderburgh County Fair. Contestants must provide their own rock salt.
    2. Copies of recipes must be displayed on a poster-size sign during the contest and presented to the judges on two 3 x 5 cards.
    3. All recipes must contain pasteurized dairy products and cooked eggs ONLY.
    4. Judging will be based on the following: (A – Flavor; B – Body and Texture; C – Natural Ingredients; D – Technique)
    5. Three classes will be judged: (Vanilla; Flavored; Sugar Free)
    6. All ice cream products will be offered to the public as taste samples for the People’s Choice award.

    The following awards will be given in each class sponsored by the Young Dairymen and VCF

    • Champion – $50
    • Second Place – $20
    • Third Place – $10
    • People’s Choice – Ice Cream Maker
